The WorBots first entered FRC in 2012 with less than two dozen members and limited resources. Tom Karns, a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) teacher at Worthington Kilbourne High School, believed the program would give students an environment in which they would be able to realistically apply technical skills learned in class. The team’s first ever competition was the Buckeye Regional in Cleveland, Ohio, where we ended ranked in spot 35 out of 50 teams. In the years since, the team has tripled in size and has been able to advance to several semi-finals as alliance leads. In 2016 Stronghold, our team finished as finalists in both the Queen City Regional and the Ohio State Competition and in 2017 Steamworks we were finalists at the WOW Championship and were champions at CORI. The WorBots’ abilities continue to improve, and the team’s future seems more promising than ever.
